BHS Pops Night: Friday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m.

We will be holding our annual Pops Concert on Friday, May 11th, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at BHS. The evening will start with the Color Guard performance in the GYM and then move to the auditorium for the Chorus, Jazz Band and Concert Band.

Please note: the original calendar was set for both Friday and Saturday, we are ONLY performing on Friday night.

Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students/seniors for this concert, available at the door.

We will also be hosting a DESSERT and GIFT BASKET Raffle in the lobby prior to the concert. If you would like to donate a dessert or gift basket, please email Mary Pegueros at mnpegueros@verizon.net.

All 7th/8th Graders must have one for the Great East Festival and Memorial Day Parade. You only have to pay for it if you want to keep it. All other students also have the option to purchases one. Please note: return date of the form is Wednesday, May 2.

BHS Chorus Performance at Girls’ Softball Opening Day

The BHS Chorus will be performing at the Bellingham Girls’ Softball Association Opening Day Ceremonies. All BHS Chorus students are required to attend. Date: Saturday, April 21, 2012 (yes, that’s the 2^nd Saturday of April vacation); Time: 10:15 a.m.; Location: High Street Fields, Bellingham (High Street can be accessed from Route 126, or Maple Street); Uniform: Wear Black Music shirts, JEANS, and Sneakers. NO SHORTS, No Flip-Flops!Performance Time is 10:45 a.m. We will be finished around 11:05 a.m.

In case of inclement weather: We will be singing rain or shine. In case of an extreme weather condition, any cancellation will be posted here on the Bellingham Music website.

BHS Band Trip to UNH Band Invitational: 4/30/12

The Bellingham High School Concert Band has received a special invitation to perform at the University of New Hampshire Band Invitational on Monday, April 30, 2012. This is a wonderful honor as well as opportunity to work with international composer/conductors Mark Camphouse and Andrew Boysen, Jr. Bellingham High is one of only 7 schools in New England invited to participate in this festival/workshop. While at UNH, our students will work with both composers, hear other schools perform and attend a UNH Wind Symphony Concert in the Johnson Theatre. BHS Band students will be departing from BHS at 6:00 a.m. and returning to BHS at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 30th. Please see the form below for detailed information.

Band Students received an important flyer with all information and a permission slip. You can print an extra copy here: UNH permission slip and info. The permission slip needs to be returned to Mrs. Forte ASAP.

MICCA Festival at Bellingham

1. There is an important MICCA Dress Rehearsal for band students in grades 7, 8 and high school on Monday, March 26, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on stage at BHS. All BMMS & BHS Concert Band students must attend. Students who need to be excused must submit a parent note to Mrs. Forte or Mr. Glynn by Friday, March 23 in order to be excused. An alternate assignment must be completed to make-up credit. See Mr. Glynn’s parent notice for information for BMMS Band students and this dress rehearsal.

2. MICCA Volunteers: We need adult volunteers to make this festival run smoothly. Please click on the link to sign-up to help out. We need especially need help on Saturday, even one or two hours helps a lot! Please click on http://www.bellinghammusic.org/index.php/friends-of-music/ to fill out the online form.

3. MICCA Performance Times for Bellingham ensembles: 7th Grade Band performs at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30; 8th Grade Band performs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 30; BHS Concert Band performs at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 30.

4. MICCA Festival Admission: $8.00 adults and $5.00 students/seniors. Admission is valid for the entire festival at all 7 sites in Massachusetts. Volunteers who help at the Bellingham site do not need to pay for admission.

All Town Band Concert Information (BMMS and BHS)

On Wednesday, March 14th at 7:00 PM in the Bellingham High School Gym we will be having our annual All Town Band Concert. This is when all band students in Bellingham grades 5-12 get to watch, listen to, and perform for each other, and then perform as one large, combined ensemble. Please join us and bring all of your friends and family! Try to come early as the gym is expected to fill up quickly.

Admission is FREE, but we are collecting non-perishable food items and diapers to donate to our local food pantry.

ALL STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AT THE BHS GYM BY 6:00 PM.

5th Grade Only

We will be having full band rehearsals during period 6 (our regular lesson time) on:

We will also be rehearsing after school this Wednesday, March 7.

BMMS Winter Concert CDs Now Available

CDs of both BMMS Winter Concerts are now available at BMMS from Mr. Glynn. Each CD is available for a $5.00 donation. Have your student bring in cash or a check made out to: Bellingham High School.

All proceeds go to music students in Bellingham, grades 5-12.
