Foxboro’s Summer Instrumental Music Camp for grades 5 through 9 

Located at Foxboro’s Middle School, the Summer Instrumental Music Program provides a music camp experience for wind, string, and percussion students, entering grades 5 through 9.  It is our goal for all participants to receive a positive musical experience in a variety of group performance areas including: Concert Band, Orchestra, Small Group Sections, Chamber Music Ensembles, Instrumental Technique, Elements of Music and Jazz Band.   In order to provide a well balanced camp experience, the daily schedule will include recreational activities such as: Kickball, Capture the Flag, Frisbee, Volleyball, and a Scavenger Hunt.  Family members are invited to attend a concert to be held at 10:30 a.m., to be held on the last day of camp.

DATES: July 6 through July 23, 2010

TIME: 8:15a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

LOCATION: Foxboro Middle School

TUITION (includes Camp tee-shirt and ensemble music book):3 weeks: $220.00 per student, 2 weeks: $185.00 per student, 1 week: $150 per student

Foxboro Summer Music 2010 

31st Annual Jazz Improvisation Workshop
Foxboro Middle School • Monday, June 28th — Friday, July 2nd Grades 7 – 12 all instruments and vocals
Directors Stephen C. Massey and George Murphy, along with a distinguished faculty of 17 jazz education specialists, will teach each student appropriate jazz improvisation techniques.  Improvisation Experience is NOT required! Students are grouped into 3 levels based on their experience: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced All instrumentalists, including flute, violin, french horn, oboe, etc. and jazz vocalists are encouraged to attend. Rhythm section players, such as piano, guitar, vibes, bass and drums will benefit greatly from this type of combo experience. Tuition Fee: $220.00

Music Institute at Rhode Island College (MIRIC) 

Mark the dates on your calendar now: July 11 – 17, 2010. The application deadline is June 15, 2010. We will once again have wind ensemble, chorus, chamber groups, opera scenes, masterclasses, and lots of recitals and concerts to attend. You may either commute each day (9:00 am – 9:00 pm is the daily schedule), or you can stay on campus in the residence halls for the full “experience.”  This camp is for high school and college students.

Summer Youth Music School (SYMS) 

at the University of New Hampshire. Durham, NH

Junior Session: for students completing grade 7 & 8: July 11 – 16, 2010

Senior Session: for high school students: July 18 – 31, 2010

In addition to concert bands, a variety of choruses, a string orchestra, and a full orchestra, we offer master classes, small ensembles, jazz groups, and other opportunities designed to improve each student’s technique and musical understanding. Stimulating and challenging classes are available to students at all levels. Private lessons, at additional cost, are available to interested students.

Students and faculty members give a variety of evening recitals throughout the sessions. Each session concludes with a final concert. www.unh.edu/music

UMASS Lowell Symphonic Band Camp
for students entering grade 8 through grade 12.  Activities include: Concert Band, Mixed Chamber Ensembles, Jazz Bands, Brass Choir, Flute Choir, Percussion Ensemble, Conducting, Keyboarding, Intro to Music Technology plus campus activities such as volleyball, cookouts and swimming.
